V J 70 Commemoration

Northampton’s world famous Church of the Holy Sepulchre 1100AD was host on Saturday 15th August 2015 to the VJ70 (Victory Over Japan) service @ 10.00am

Recently awarded ’Icon of Northamptonshire’ St Seps, as The Forces Church for Northamptonshire with it’s numerous military connections was ideally placed to receive veterans and numerous dignitaries for the commemorative event. Deputy Lieutenant Col. John Royle MBE and the Mayor Cllr. Penelope Flavell together with Member of Parliament David MacIintosh also took part in the wreath laying ceremony outside at the Burma Star Garden.

This 70th anniversary of the end of the second World War, paid respect to the many tens of thousands of UK and Commonwealth Forces and UK civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice, during a two minute silence in the sunshine.
